The video work follows the media outburst in the wake of the 2008 uncovering of a spectacular and gruesome criminal case in Amstetten. As hundreds of journalists and technical teams gather in the Austrian town to cover the arrest and court case of the ‘Monster of Amstetten’, the press is faced with a major difficulty: As the proceedings are held behind closed doors, there is an absence of relevant image material. Voignier shows the efforts placed on the fabrication of images and narratives at all costs.
