In the Bakery of Thought

Lecture Performance by Peter Radelfinger
'In the Bakery of Thought' is an earnest, comic lecture performance that will deal in a concrete way with the concepts of thought, with the understanding of time, and with strategies of advancing and progressing: Dough will be kneaded, texts and loaves of bread containing materials will be assembled, and in the end, everything will be pushed into the oven.
The text montage presented cannot be separated from the performative act, and it will be faintly reminiscent of a cheap, imperfect TV cooking show.
The presentation will last approximately 45 minutes. It can be understood in the context of the artistic and journalistic work of artist Peter Radelfinger. In his work, Radelfinger creates ever new constellations of images, texts, and objects as well as spaces between them. He also engenders both sense and nonsense through montage. These strategies are reflected in his extensive graphic research – including Joke and Aah...Aha! – as well in his publications Falsche Fährten (Wrong Tracks) and Sowohl als ob (as well as if), both from Edition Patrick Frey. From 7:00 to 8:00 pm, Peter Radelfinger will bake and speak about dough and texts in the Kunsthalle's exhibition space. This will be open to the public and free of charge. From 8:00 to 9:30 pm, Radelfinger invites you to join him at the table. Space at the long table will be limited and will require that visitors make a reservation as well as a contribution toward expenses.
Peter Radelfinger, *1953 in Bern, lives and works in Zurich. He is a visual artist and, until 2016, he was a professor at Zurich University of the Arts. More
